
For most of us June is a great month because the best mangoes appear in the marketplace and there is no looking back. Think Irrfan Khan’s character ‘Yogi’ who encourages Jaya (Parvathy T) to slurp Dusheri mango juice straight from the fruit by sucking it – an earthy and playful instruction to enjoy the simple and sweet pleasures of life. Fruit pulp or juice, ice cream or souffle, pudding, shake or smoothie, June is when mango mania truly goes through the ceiling.
Movie fans were treated to a slew of new releases in June 2025, and Camongo has them listed underneath –
Mrigaya – The film, co-written and directed by Abhirup Ghosh is an action-thriller film that dwells on the investigation of a sex workers brutal murder and robbery in a Kolkata red-light area. As the investigation runs deeper, a committed police officer finds unexpected help from a bold sex worker as a key lead. As the case unfolds, we find a dangerous criminal gang from Uttar Pradesh known for violent crimes at work here. The team sets out on a high-stakes mission to capture the gangs leader.

Grihapravesh – In a large, ambling North Calcutta mansion, a young woman, Titli, holds on to her humdrum routine after her husband Shaon vanishes. As Durga Puja approaches, Megh arrives. He is an unexpected guest who arrival brings warmth and a rush of painful emotions with layers of grief peeling off. There are deeply buried emotions, silent longing, and the ache of unfinished stories that poignantly come to the surface in this family romantic drama by Indraadip Dasgupta. Grihapravesh stars Subhrashree Ganguly, Kaushik Ganguly, Jeetu Kamal, Sohini Sengupta, Rudranil Ghosh, and others.

‘Bhuto’ Purbo – The film is set in the late 1960s and is a combination of three spine-chilling stories based on Rabindranath Tagore’s Monihara, Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay’s Taranath Tantrik, and Manoj Sen`s Shikar. Two strangers arrive at Bibhutibhushan`s ancestral home on a wild, stormy evening. As rain pours incessantly outside, the two men decide to swap mysterious stories on a greedy woman’s spirit that keeps craving for her jewellery, a mystic who can’t decide between power and peace, and a conman whose perfectly planned and executed crime takes a dark turn.
The supernatural thriller is directed by Kakoli Ghosh and Avinab Mukherjee has an ensemble cast.

Onko Ki Kothin – Babin, Dolly, and Tyre, three small children live in a slum and keep dreaming of being a doctor, a nurse, and an engineer. Typical of little ones, they refuse to let their harsh realities come in the way of their rosy dreams. But, then Babin`s father falls critically ill and the three friends strike a desperate attempt to save him by stealing an oxygen cylinder. What happens next? Is their determination, strong enough? How far are they willing to go to protect their loved ones? At what cost? Do they remain firm friends through all their trials? Directed by Saurav Palodhi, the film stars Parno Mittrah, Riddhiman Banerjee, Gitashree Chakraborty, Tapomoy Deb, and others.

Raas – As a large joint family, the Chakrabortys of Manikpur were tied together by laughter, tradition, and the grand celebration of Raas in their beautiful residence. Then, Rajat left home with his son, Somnath, after a painful fallout amongst the family members.
Many years pass. Somnath, now a young and successful corporate professional on the verge of moving abroad, comes across a bunch of old letters that lead him back to his ancestral house in Manikpur. Once there, he embarks on a journey to discover himself. Raas. a touching tale of family roots and the immense power of homecoming is directed by Tathagata Mukherjee. Raas has Vikram Chatterjee, Devlina Kumar, Anashua Majumdar, Anirban Chakrabarti, Sudip Mukherjee, and others in its cast.

Pokkirajer Dim – Meet Ghoton who is a special but determined student breaking his head over decent grades at his Akashgunj High School. Batabyal is his eccentric physics teacher with a hair style to match who aspires to win a Nobel Prize. This odd-ball of a teacher had odd ways of teaching but is a wizard at his subject. Ghoton discovers a rare and mysterious stone in the ancient temple in his small town, one apparently left behind by aliens many years ago, with incredible magical powers. He decides to “bribe” the teacher into giving him lessons for the stone. Meantime, there are other evil forces out to get hold of the rare stone. What happens next? Directed by Soukarya Ghosal, this fantasy sic-fi will appeal to all ages of movie buffs. Anirban Bhattacharya plays the quirky teacher.

Rabindra Kabya Rahasya – A film by Sayantan Ghoshal in which a modern-day poet, Avik Bose (Ritwick Chakraborty) uncovers a dark conspiracy surrounding a lost manuscript of Rabindranath Tagore, leading to a trail of murders, betrayal and a race to protect Indias cultural legacy. Hiya Sen (Srabanti Chatterjee) is a researcher who teams up with Avik Bose to recover the lost manuscript through the maze of riddles.

Aapish – Two working women from starkly different socioeconomic backgrounds, facing the same curveballs that life throws are doing their utter best to balance home and work while their individual families expect huge sacrifices from them whenever any problems arise. The film questions if we can break this pitiful cycle and how support and understanding go a long way in making this happen. Aapish by Abhijit Guha and Sudeshna Ray has Kinjal Nanda, Sudipta Chakraborty, and Priyanka Bhattacharya in lead roles.

Chabiwala – The Keysmith – The film is about Bhaben, a village keysmith, who loves Fatima, the headman’s daughter. Bhaben’s simple love faces societal and religious challenges, and Fatima gets married off to a “suitable” man. Heartbroken, Bhaben moves to the vast city, still harbouring the dream of meeting her among the hundreds of unknown faces. In this urban maze, he meets Amlan, a reclusive writer trapped in his past, and Zaira, a lawyer, linked to both Amlan and Fatima. Against the urban checkerboard of this vast city, the lives of these emotionally fractured individuals come together, where each is “seeking” a key to unlock his or her soul. Directed by Raja Ghosh, the film stars Koushik Kar, Amrita Chattopadhyay, Subhasish Mukherjee, and Sohag Sen in ‘key’ roles.

Batshorik – Brishti is grieving her husband Neel’s death and determined to live on in the house that they lived together in while her sister-in-law, Swapna is convinced that it is haunted. Swapna is convinced that evil lurks there and was the real reason behind Neel’s premature death. As Neel’s death anniversary approaches, Swapna becomes obsessed with cleansing the house of dark forces, while Brishti keeps telling her that her fear is baseless. But then, more and more eerie incidents start taking place, and Brishti’s behaviour turns unsettling and frightening. The presence of a malevolent evil force is all too evident at a point “where even science fails to explain certain occurrence” as Swapna emphatically declares. It is an unusual relationship where both women bonded through a man who is now dead must confront their individual traumas. The film by Mainak Bhaumik is a spine-chilling tale of horror and human emotions and starsl Ishan Mazumder, Joydip Kundu, Aritraa Sengupta, Alok Sanyal, while Subhrajit Datta makes a friendly appearance.

Chupp – The horror-thriller Chupp released towards the end of the month explores how an unresolved past can appear in the present to alter it in frightful ways in its demand for justice. A prosperous multinational developer’s dream project turns nightmarish when the property’s sinister past comes to light. In the past, a happy family fell victim to a brutal conspiracy that has its roots in corruption and greed. Ghostly apparitions appear in a bid to show what had gone grossly wrong in the past. Produced by Quality Films, Chupp by Sayan Biswas has Barun Chakraborty, Mousumi Saha, and Sanjib Sarkar as lead characters and has supernatural elements enmeshed on a fabric of social commentary.
